The Direct Aid Program (DAP) of the Australian Embassy in the Philippines funded one major project of TWH entitled, Upgrading Solutions for PWDs this Pandemic. This comprise of upgrading for its information technology (IT) consisting of the improvement of the TWH website and online marketing hub plus provision of necessary advanced IT equipment and office structure improvement. The project also included upgrading of the TWH canteen structure. Such upgrading of the IT and canteen are important means for TWH to face the critical challenges of the pandemic and equip PWDs in facing the new normal. Furthermore, the project provides essential IT knowledge and skills plus the urgent food provision, in the effort of TWH to maintain its bubble so that PWDs will not have to go out of the organization to buy food and other needs outside.
Project implementation went well though affected by the frequent lockdowns and community quarantine. Canteen structure improvement which was the first to be done, was assisted by the Engineering department of the Armed Forces of the Philippines through our contact Mr. Juan Velasco. The TWH website improvement took time because of technical intricacies with the inclusion of e-commerce and payment gateways. DAP also assisted TWH in 2020 through pandemic emergency food bags with sacks of rice. Our deepest gratitude to DAP, the Australian Embassy in the Philippines through Ms. Doris Avila, Program Head, Ms. Inge Stokkel and H.E. Ambassador Steven J. Robinson AO.
